Fr. Brian Turner, Rev. Amy Turner, and the Church of the Blessed Redeemer join the interfaith community in Brevard County in sharing a Message of Support, Condolence, and Commitment in the wake of continued racial violence in our country in June 2020.

A Message of Support, Condolence, and Commitment
We of the many different faith organizations here in Brevard County, Florida, stand in support and solidarity with Black Lives Matter, and with all those who are outraged and heartbroken at the continued violence against people of color.
Disheartened by the murder of George Floyd and far too many other Black men and women killed because of the color of their skin, we join with those elected leaders and other faith-based organizations who are committed to equitable treatment of all God’s children.
We acknowledge the deep pain of injustice, inequality, persecution and loss of home, freedom, dignity and life caused and maintained by racism in our country, and that racism is a systemic evil with a long history in our land and in our collective soul and psyche. We commit to showing up to heal its gaping wounds and righting its wrongs wherever we can and for as long as it takes.
We will encourage our constituents to participate in the political process to ensure the election of government officials equally committed to the safety of all. We will not be passively involved.
As people of faith, we strive to be, in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, “those creative dissenters who will call our beloved nation to a higher destiny, to a new plateau of compassion, to a more noble expression of humanness.” And we recognize that this requires honest introspection, courageous acts and deeper commitment to “being the change” we want to see in our world.
As a community of many faiths, we also commit to learning from each other on the issues of civil rights, racial inequality, and brutality facing our society. We will not be silent anymore and with the help of God of many names we will work towards sustainable, compassionate actions and laws to ensure the safety, justice, and freedom for all. We ask you to join us.
